Chopin :: The greatest musical composer of all time; or great music they will not play on the radio.

The musical master

The greatest musical composer of all time.

Before I go on about this guy, and music and his genius, take a moment to listen to this soft piece, just listen to the first minute or so if you like, you can always come back to it.

Go on, you’ll like it, I promise.

Ok, so we will do a quick tour of some of the best romantic music ever made, they all just happen to be composed by Chopin.

Before we sample our next succulent music morsel, I would like to just make a few comments. You know, get the whole blog thing out of the way.

Musical enjoyment is not only a sense of nostalgia when listening to the music that reminds you of your past. It is the enjoyment of the music itself, whether or not you have ever heard it before.

I have seen that many people, particularly those approaching their mid-life or older, have an inability to enjoy new music, or unheard music, and do not enjoy the music for its inherent glory, but rather enjoy a feeling of nostalgia, as the music transports them to a memory or time in the past.

I stress that Chopin was a master musician of all forms but his blessing was romantic music. Listen to the first two minutes of this piece and, since most of you will never have even heard of Chopin, let alone this piece, and will be probably hearing for the first time you can experience what I mean when I say appreciation for the music itself and not just for the nostalgia associated with a favourite song or pop piece.

Think quietly about the first time you had your heart broken, take you self to the moment it happened, now press play.

Here is one you are probably familiar with.

This is undenyably one of the most beautiful pieces ever composed.

I will be updating the post soon with some more of his works. recommendation

Did you like this post, tell me in the comments.

Kylie – That is a great article that evyenore should read. The chemistry part rings so true to me, not only because it leads to amazing pictures, but because it leads to great memories with the photographers themselves. When I look at my pictures I not only think of the great day I had with my new husband and family and friends, but how wonderful it was to get to know you both.09.29.11 5:42pm

    Hello Stephen :)

I’ve been wanting to come back to the 180 in my life I initially wrote of. I’m aware of your perspective, but it certainly felt like a 180. When you spoke of how “suddenly I embraced my true self” that’s the 180 I speak of, it’s taken a few years for that reverb to settle. I took a new job, found my true self, began getting out of a 13 year relationship that wasn’t “right”, began writing a story that has infused my life with such riches I can hardly imagine it’s possible, then as I went on my merry way doing the best I could (here’s where I’d agree with your belief in psychosis and taking things too seriously) I began to learn even more (or truthfully become aware) of that true self in things I could do, just do: feel others, know things about them, know things that I never learned, write as if my pen or fingers are guided, see an angel in the sky…

Anyway, that’s part of the problem with words, they mean different things to you than they do me, often when I write it’s to describe a feeling and not literal, but then often when I read others I take it literally too, as in literally what I would mean if writing it. (I hope that makes sense!)

    Be well!

    Hi Stephen,

I love music, my father instilled a deep appreciation for music early in my life. He’s a drummer who then began fixing old victrolas, cylinder players and diamond disc players to balance his regular job in Social Services. He has 8 tracks, 45′s, tapes, CD’s and now MP3′s he’s one that loves new music as much as older music. I was fortunate to grow up in that musically inclined environment and am passing on the same to my little girl.

Do you play an instrument or compose?

    Be well,
    Kristy

This review is from: Music for Little Mozart: siingng, listening, music appreciation, movement and rhythm activities to bring music to all children under (Music for Little Mozart) (Paperback) This book is designed with group lessons in mind and can be adapted for private lessons. Hello contains a song, a song of farewell, 8 songs for children or the use of sticks beating rhythm, 5 songs for creative movement, and 8 songs for the ear training / listening exercise. There are some introductions to the composers Mozart and Beethoven. There are about 3 different suggested activities for each song so that it can be used in different ways to reinforce musical concepts in various lessons. They taught me a lot of music and movement classes and can not wait to use these songs, looking soooo fun. I also bought the CD and my kids love to hear the songs.

      Hi Kristy,

I am so glad that you have a wide spectrum of musical tastes. I think that the enjoyment of music is one of the best pleasures and forms of enjoyment available to us.

I used to play alot of Guitar in my youth, and while I can still play, I am by no stretch of the imagination a “musician”. I certainly have composed music too, and I enjoy that the most.

Thanks for your kind comment’s on the new blog format. I have too keep up to high standards (ie your blog :) )

I’m glad you’re composing :) I forgot to mention my father is blind, he’s taught me quite a bit about perseverance and not letting obstacles get in the way of being who you’re meant to be.

I always wanted to learn the bass guitar, but never found time…now I just tap drumsticks on my writing desk to get the beat out.

My blog is not a high standard, lol. I’m stumbling my way with it. I actually just found, after 5 months…the stats part and reader (oh and what the “tags” mean). Yes…I’m that blonde ;)
